The Generator - Creative Industries and Community Arts Hub. £1.6m

An aerial view of The Generator building in Frederick Street, Loughborough

The Generator Project will transform a major derelict 1930s building in Loughborough into a creative industries and community arts hub.

The former Art College building is in two distinct parts but will operate as an integrated operation. Our Neighbourhood is in charge of the Old Art College building fronting Frederick Street where they have already created new spaces for locally based creative businesses and a thriving café with bakery and florist .

The Generator Generator Community Interest Company is in charge of the building which fronts on to Packet Street. This is the project being supported by Loughborough Town Deal.

This project will create:

  • Public access to a multimedia arts centre café and restaurant for performance, exhibitions, and community engagement.
  • A focus for community engagement, activity and business support.
  • A sustainable hub which prevents the need for people to travel elsewhere to access similar facilities.
