Bedford Square Gateway

This project has been completed with the help of a £1.7 million grant. It has resulted in a town centre that is both attractive and accessible, linking urban areas with open spaces including the award-winning Queen's Park.

The project, led by Charnwood Borough Council, has executed a series of improvements to the town centre. Footpaths were widened for pedestrian convenience, high-quality paving was installed throughout the area, and a public open space was created in Devonshire Square, now available for events.

In addition, parking was retained to ensure accessibility, new pedestrian crossings and raised tables were added for improved pedestrian safety, and new character street lights were installed. The town's heritage was celebrated with the addition of decorative paving stones, and the area was further enhanced with new street furniture and planting.

The project was also supported by investment from both the Council and the Leicester and Leicestershire Enterprise Partnership (LLEP). It demonstrates the power of collaborative investment in local development, showcasing how urban planning can enhance the quality of life in the community.
