Transport Minister Huw Merriman visited Loughborough on Monday February 26 and was able to see one of the Loughborough Town Deal projects which has recently been completed.

The Minister visited the canal which has been hugely improved by the Canal & River Trust thanks to support from Loughborough Town Deal.

Town Deal Board Members Martin Traynor and Jane Hunt MP, as well as officers from the Council and representatives from the Canal & River Trust, were able to talk to the Minister about the project which has seen 2km of towpath revamped with improved surfaces, additional moorings and a strengthened canal bank.

This project is one of 11 being backed by Loughborough Town Deal which are bringing in over £40 million of investment to the town.
